Welcome to the village of Kirua Lasso! We are a small village located on the slopes
of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Our village is very beautiful. Visitors often say it
looks like the Garden of Eden.

The Good Hope Women's Group
In 2004, 27 women started the Good Hope Women's
Group to help send our children to school and to improve
health and living conditions in our village. Most families
earn less than $80 a year. That's not enough to buy the
uniforms and school supplies or to buy medicine, clothing
or pay for our other basic needs.
Micro loan fund. We've started a micro loan fund which
enables members to invest in projects which earn much
needed supplements to their family income. We now have
46 members and many plans and dreams about how to
make our lives better.
Animal Raising Project. With the money we've made from
the loan fund, we are now raising two sows. As they give
birth, young piglets will be distributed to member families.
This will provide an ongoing source of income--and
protein--for member families. We will also be raising and
distributing goats and chickens to families who would
prefer these animals.
